Chandel, India

Chandel District (erstwhile known as Tengnoupal District) is one of the nine main districts of Manipur. On the other hand, Chandel town is the administrative headquarters of the entire Chandel district. The district has mainly four sub-divisions named Chandel, Machi, Moreh and Chakpikarong. Chandel, also referred to as Lamka is very popular in the state for its colourful as well as vibrant tribal population. This place houses around 20 tribal communities that follow different cultures and traditions. Tengnoupal:
This place is located 20 KM off Chandel. It offers a complete picturesque view of the entire Manipur valley. The ambiance, which exists at this Indo-Myanmar Road's highest point, is just amazing.

Moreh:
Town Moreh is the 'international trade center' of Manipur. This town is around 70 KM off Chandel. This commercial town is visited by various people from the neighboring areas.

Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary:
Established in the year 1989, the Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Indo-Myanmar border in the district of Chandel, which stands extended over an area of about 185 sq km. Wildlife lovers can spot a variety of animals here like, 6 species of amphibians, 42 species of mammalians, 29 kinds of reptiles, 86 species of fish and 74 types of birds.
