Best Places to Visit in Gokarna

Mahabalesvara Temple:
It is an ancient temple adorned with simple architecture and much sought-after by the locals and pilgrims in Gokarna. The pilgrims come here to pay their homage chanting mantras in front of the Shiva Linga.

Tamra Gauri Temple:
Located in the north of Mahabalesvara Temple, this temple is devoted to the Goddess Parvati. It has an ornate entrance. Here, the goddess's deity is always decked up in brilliantly pleated silk sari.

Mahaganapati Temple:
Mahaganapati Temple is another popular temple backed by various legends, in Gokarna. This temple is situated in the east of Mahabalesvara Temple. In its sanctum, the black stone idol stands about 1.3m in height.

Kotitirtha:
It is a sacred tank that is supposed to contain waters of 'one crore (koti) sacred springs (tirtha)'. On the southern edge of the tank is the Vara-deshvara linga, which was installed by Sage Agasthya. This holy water tank is located in the south-east of Mahabalesvara Temple.
