Best Places to Visit in Katra

Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine:
It is a famed cave shrine located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Vaishno Devi is amongst the most visited and sacred places among devotees who throng the temple from far and wide. This temple is dedicated to Hindu Mother Goddess and is one of the oldest of all the temples in India.

Charan Paduka:
It is another sacred destination, which is nestled at an elevation of 3380 feet just 1.5 KM from Banganga. It is known that the Goddess Durga decided to stay at this place, when she was chased by Bhairavnath. Devotees from various locations of the world visit the Charan Paduka temple to pay homage at the footprints of the Goddess carved on a large piece of rock.

Banganga:
Banganga is a first main halt for the devotees when embarking on an odyssey from Katra to Bhawan. It is located around 3 KM from Katra. The water of the river is considered very pious where the devotees take holy baths and then start their spiritual yatra.

Bhairon Mandir:
Also called as Kaala Bhairava, Bhairav Mandir is situated at a distance of 3 km from the sacred cave. According to the legends, Bhairav Nath asked for forgiveness for his wicked acts in his last breadth and Vaishnavi exonerated him. It is deemed that the excursion to Vaishno Devi only completes after visiting to Bhairav Mandir, located on the top of the hill and easily accessible from 'Ardh Kawari'.

Trikuta Parvat:
Just 5 miles from Deoghar, en-route to Dumka, Trikuta Parvat is located at a height of 2470 ft above the sea level. It got its name from the three mountains on the hill. One can scout the garden of Shiva where many foliage of wood apple are found. In addition, there is a striking shrine dubbed the Trikutachal Mahadev temple which is devoted to Lord Shiva. It is indeed a famous picnic site which is visited by devotees as well as locals.
