Ladnun, India

Best Places to Visit in Ladnun

Jain Vishva Bharati University:
It is a popular academic organization, which was established in the year 1970 here. Erstwhile known as the Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, this centre of learning was founded by Acharya Tulsi (head of the Jain Terapanth). The vast campus and its spirituality based education system lure a huge of tourists.

Digambar Jain Bara Temple:
One of the most famous tourist attractions of Ladnun, Digambar Jain Bara Temple was built on Ashad Sukla 8, in the year 1136. It is famous for engraved pillars, beautiful idols of Jain Tirthankaras, a rare collection of art and ancient Jain manuscripts. It also has two vedica chambers, where visitors can see the idols of second Tirthankara and sixteenth Tirthankara, Ajitnathji and Santinathji, respectively.

Umarshahpir Dargah:
It is the most ancient dargah situated in the city of Ladnun. Inscriptions dating back to the Islamic year Hijri 772 are on display for tourists here.

Chhapar Sanctuary:
This sanctuary is situated at a distance of 25 KM from Ladnun. It is famous for housing the most elegant antelopes of India, 'Black bucks'. Bird lovers can catch views of the migratory Birds like demoiselle cranes in the month of March which come from Eurasia. Other than black bucks, travelers can also spot here desert cats, desert foxes, partridges and sand grouse all around the year. This sanctuary is popular for a unique type of grass called 'Mothiya' (in the local language and literally meaning pearl). The seeds of the grass look like pearls and have a sweet taste. This means when you are here, you must mark a visit to this wildlife sanctuary on your Ladnun tour itinerary.
