Best Places to Visit in Thekkady

Periyar National Park :
Situated on the banks of artificial Periyar Lake, this park is covered with dense forests and green grass lands making it the best place for wildlife like, the great Indian tigers, lion tailed macaques, elephants, deer, gaurs and sambars. You can also enjoy elephant rides and cruise rides on the lake.

Kadathanadan Kalari Centre :
Located on Thekkady Road, Kumily, it is well known for Kalaripayattu martial arts (self- defense kind of martial arts). This martial art form is performed in a designed gallery which is built considering the safety of the viewers.

Kumily :
Situated just in the outskirts of the Periyar sanctuary, this village is famous for extensive plantations of various exotic Indian spices.

Mangala Devi Temple :
Mangala Devi Temple is situated at an altitude of 1337 meters above sea level. This temple is constructed in the traditional Kerala style of architecture. Visitors are allowed to visit this temple on the day of Chitra Pournami festival.
