Himalayan Zoological Park

Himalayan zoological park was established in 1991. It is Just above Ganesh Tok at a distance of 9 km from Gangtok. This Zoological Park contains an area of 210 hectares. This area is also known as Bulbuley. Large area of the zoological Park is covered with forests that house Blue Sheep, Himalayan Black Bea, Musk Deer, and Barking Deer and Red Panda. It is such kind of park where tourists can trace animals. Zoological Park is controlled by the government of Sikkim under the department of forest, environment and wildlife.

Deer Park

Deer park offers good and wonderful view of the hills surrounding Gangtok. It is also called the Rustomji Park. This park has a big open natural enclosure in which visitors can see many different types of deer. There are some cages also in which some animal’s native to Sikkim like the Red Panda and the Himalayan Bear are kept.

Khangchendzonga National Park

Khangchendzonga National Park is a beautiful park in Gangtok, located in the largest district of Sikkim. This national park covers an area of 845 sq km. The national park occupies a place at the apex amongst the high altitude National Parks in India. There are many glaciers in this park including famous zemu glaciers. In winter months this park receives heavy snowfall.

Tsomgo Lake

Situated at a distance of 35 km away from the city, Tsomgo Lake is a charismatic place to visit. It is a holy lake worshipped by the natives of Sikkim. You can also see here a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the lakeside. Primula flowers and other alpine plantation are grown to enhance the beauty of the lake.

Rumtek Monastery

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is a Tibetan museum in Gangtok, Sikkim, India. The foundation of the institute was kept by the 14th Dalai Lama on the 10th February, 1957. The main building of the institute has an impressive monument, which is a perfect example of Sikkimese architecture.

Ganesh Tok

Phodong Monastery

Located 28 km away from Gangtok, Phodong Monastery is one of the 6 main Buddhist monasteries in Sikkim. It is located at an altitude of 4500 feet and admired as the first monastery of the Kagyupa sect to be founded in Sikkim.

Sa-Ngor-Chotshog Centre

This is the only monastery, which belongs to the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism in Sikkim. The centre was founded in year 1961. The building of the center bestows an unmatched charm and magnetism.

Hanuman Tok

It is a popular Hindu temple complex, which is situated in the upper reaches of Gangtok - the capital city of Sikkim. The main deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman. The temple is maintained by the Indian army.
